CO is a colorless, odorless gas produced by burning fuels like gas, oil, wood, and coal. Since it’s impossible to detect without specialized equipment, proper installation of CO detectors is essential

1. Outside Each Sleeping Area

  • Place a CO detector in the hallway outside bedrooms to ensure that the alarm can be heard by everyone in the sleeping area.

2. On Every Floor

  • Install a CO detector on every level of your home, including the basement, to ensure comprehensive coverage.

3. Near or Inside Attached Garages

  • If you have an attached garage, install a CO detector inside the garage or in the adjacent room to catch any fumes that might enter the house.

4. Close to Fuel-Burning Appliances
